She’s got the technique, good balance, firm contact and unerring accuracy, though at 43, Harry’s mum Emma Hayes may be a little too senior to hold down a regular place in the youthful Chelsea Women’s side.

The Blues manager showed she still has what it takes, even if she can’t launch a diagonal crossfield ball quite like centre-back Millie Bright, or head a goal with the panache of Beth England in full flight.

Hayes has previous, as the picture below shows. She’s able to aim a well-directed kick at just about anything!

Next up for the Blues is a cup game against Liverpool at Kingsmeadow on Sunday lunchtime, although – after last weekend’s problems with Storm Ciara – everyone is keeping a close eye on the weather with Storm Dennis on the horizon. Kick-off at Chelsea’s ground in KT1 is at 12.30pm for this eagerly awaited FA Cup match.

Rumours that a certain Emma Hayes will be on the bench, ready to leap into action and get the winning goal late on, have been denied. Sam Kerr, returning from Australia on Friday after a couple of weeks on international duty down under, will be one of the subs for the match.
