Millie Bright, Beth England and Carly Telford have been named as part of Phil Neville’s 23-strong squad to compete in the SheBelieves Cup in the States next month, writes Jane Grove.

The England manager picked Chelsea’s defender, striker and goalie to take part in the four-team round-robin tournament which starts on March 6.

The Lionesses won the SheBelieves for the first time last year and will be defending their title. Opponents include the US, Japan and Spain.

Bright, pictured, is all about winning silverware. The Chelsea number 4 is looking forward to the next few games with her team which include a top-of-the-table WSL clash against Manchester City on Sunday (Feb 23), a Conti cup final against Arsenal (Feb 29) and a quarter-final FA Cup game against Everton (March 15) – the latter when she returns from the SheBelieves tournament.

Speaking after Monday night’s 1-0 win against Liverpool in the fifth round of the FA Cup, she said: “We’re confident and we are keeping our momentum going. You can expect anything in football, a lot of things can happen, things can change week in week out, but as long as we are training hard and we are keeping the momentum in our favour I don’t see a reason why we can’t go on and win everything and remain unbeaten. That’s our aim; we want to be the most honoured team in England – so far so good.”

Millie said Sunday’s fixture was a big game but the mentality all season had been to treat each game as if it were a final, and that is the approach they would continue to take.

“If you drop a few points you then have to rely on other teams, which is not a position we want to be in. We want to rely on ourselves to go on and win the league and win the cups, and right now we are in that position so it’s important to keep it that way.”
