Coffee-lovers queued (at a safe distance) outside the Press Room this morning (Saturday) to enjoy a long-awaited caffeine-fix in the sunshine.

The café in Claremont Road, Surbiton, threw open its windows to serve takeaway drinks yesterday.

There were even some bar stools on the pavement for people to use.

“At the moment we will be only serving off our drinks menu, but we endeavour to offer sweet treats and more down the track!” said a spokesman.

The café, which closed its doors to the public six weeks ago because of the coronavirus crisis, is now open from 9am to 3pm seven days a week. Contactless tap payments only.
