Villiers Road tip is reopening tomorrow (Wednesday) but you have to book a slot otherwise you will be turned away.

Kingston council’s ‘household reuse and recycle centre’ as the panjandrums call it (!) will be open for essential visits and only if you have pre-booked. It will also be operating under revised times.

In accordance with government guidance, householders should only take waste to the tip in Chapel Mill Road if it cannot be safely stored at home and no alternative disposal options are available.

The centre will be open from Monday to Friday, 2pm to 6.30pm; Saturday from 7.30am to 4pm and on Sunday from 9am to 4pm.

Bookings open at 11am today (Tuesday) via the council’s website at here.

Initially, only household general waste, garden waste, small electrical items and small, bulky waste items will be accepted.

With access restricted, be prepared to queue for longer than usual. There will be left-hand-turn-only access into the site from Villiers Road so drivers should only approach from the north (via Fairfield South or Hawks Road). Surbitonians, you will have to go on a circuitous route to get there!
