Local crafters are coming together this weekend (in a virtual way!) to sell their wares and raise money for two local charities which have been making a difference during the pandemic.
The KT Online Craft Fair which runs over four days from today (Friday) until Monday will showcase the work of craft-makers from all over the community who live or work within the KT1 to KT10 postcodes.
The idea came from Kate Chambers and Vicky Drake of Berrylands’ business Paper and Cotton who realised small, creative businesses have been struggling since the lockdown.
As well as providing a platform for selling unique gifts, pottery, bath bombs, prints of the local area and other home and eco-friendly products and giving you information about the people who are the talent behind the businesses, the fair will also raise money for the Berrylands Nature Reserve, which is providing an invaluable outdoor space for families in the area especially in these difficult times, and SOS! SEN, a small, East Molesey-based charity helping parents of children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Disabilities.
“We’re very excited to have formed a local crafting community to support one another during these unique times,” said Katherine Savage of Treasure Kave, also based in Berrylands. “Hopefully this is the first of many opportunities to showcase unique gifts available on our doorstep that are often undiscovered.”
The crafters will also be delivering your purchases to your door if you live locally (applying social distancing rules of course) in order to reduce the pressure on postal services.
