Tarte in the Park reopens for takeaways

“We’re really pleased to be back!” said a beaming Tiphaine Fevrier, pictured, as she handed over a freshly baked chocolatine and a piping hot latte, from a make-shift counter at the Tarte in the Park in Victoria Rec. “We’ve been closed for the last couple of months so it is wonderful to be here again!

“Our customers are really pleased too. There was one here at 9.30am this morning waiting for us to open up!”

The Tarte in the Park in the recreation ground off Balaclava Road, Surbiton, which closed its doors on March 20 because of the coronavirus crisis, is now open for takeaways from Wednesday to Sunday (10am to 4pm Wed-Fri and 10am to 5pm Sat-Sun).

Pastries, cakes, baguettes, smoothies, milkshakes and hot drinks are on the menu, and Tiphaine is hoping that in the near future they will be serving hot takeaway snacks too.

There’s a one-in-one-out policy and in and out doors to keep people safe.

“The weather at the weekend looks as if it is going to be good, cross fingers, so I expect we will be busy!” she added.

The Tarte in the Park is the sister cafe to The French Tarte in Maple Road.
