Thieves scaled a fence and stole these newly-planted geraniums (pictured) and begonias from a little piece of heaven by the Thames.

Julian Meers, chair of the Queens Promenade Friends, was dismayed to find that the pocket park opposite Raven’s Ait had been ransacked.

“The park has been successfully created over the last year by volunteers who have worked tirelessly to make it a better place for the community,” he said. “The work is still ongoing so, if you’re passing take a peek and also keep your eye out for any plant thieves!”

Julian is appealing for donations of surplus plants to plug the gaps at the community garden by the river off the Portsmouth Road. Email him at [email protected]  if you can help. He is happy to collect.
