Take a photo of your decorated Christmas tree – big or small, real or artificial – send it to Maple Village WI and be part of its Virtual Christmas Tree Festival. You could even win a virtual rosette!

“We’re sooooo excited to be hosting our first Christmas Tree Festival!” said the president of the WI’s Surbiton branch Kelly Woods. “We’re spreading joy and raising money for Kingston Samaritans.”

Categories include: Best homemade decorations; Best tree-topper; Best themed tree; Best family tree; Best charity/organisation tree; Best independent business tree; Best alternative tree; Best local tree (in the borough of Kingston upon Thames)

Virtual rosettes will be presented on Wednesday, December 23 and the festival, which is open to individuals, families, organisations, charities and businesses, will run until New Year’s Eve.

If you can make a small donation to help those who help others when you submit your photo it will be gratefully received by the Samaritans who support people locally who cannot cope and who have been especially hard hit by the impact of coronavirus.

Maple Village WI, which runs events and talks for women, usually meets on the fourth Monday of the month at Glenmore House in The Crescent and occasionally other venues in Surbiton. Due to Covid-19, web-based meetings are currently taking place. Visit www.maplevillagewi.co.uk to find out more.
