Handmade at The Broadway Bar comes to Tolworth this Sunday (December 13).

The festive market, featuring the work of 15 local artists and artisans, runs at the venue in Tolworth Broadway from 11am to 2pm.

Among the stallholders are Daisy Bow creator of cyanotype prints and bespoke embroidery, Allot More local producer of hot sauces and chutneys, Paper & Cotton creators of eco-friendly pampering and homewares, and Simone Kay, maker of stained glass.

Event organiser Sarah Richardson of Chessington-based The Place to Make, who creates silver jewellery, cushions and hand-poured organic candles, pictured, said: “We want to make shopping local this Christmas a treat for everyone. We have some seriously brilliant local makers all selling wonderful gifts that you won’t get on any high street.”

Sarah, who founded Handmade Kingston, a virtual marketplace set up on Facebook over lockdown to provide a space for local artisans to showcase their work, said the event will only have handmade products from Kingston-area makers.

“It is the perfect antidote to the online shopping at big retailers that people have been doing in lockdown. Small businesses, especially handmade makers like we all are, really care about the quality of our products and the experience we give to all our customers. It’s why it’s so important to hold local events like this.”

The market is being organised in conjunction with Tolworth-based Community Brain.
