Reporting fly-tipping has just got easier. Kingston Council has launched an interactive map of the borough’s streets. Place the pin where rubbish has been dumped and then fill in a short form to give council staff more details.

“Our rangers have noted an increase in fly-tipping since the start of the pandemic,” said Surbiton neighbourhood manager James Geach. “Residents can really help our teams by recording fly-tipping on our website, and there is a new tool – an interactive map – which will let you know if fly-tipping has already been reported and if not, how to report it.”

You can find the map by visiting www.kingston.gov.uk and search for Report Fly Tipping.

The council will aim to remove any dumped rubbish – eg black rubbish sacks, rubble, tyres, mattresses, sofas, carpets, fridges and washing machines – from any public road within 24 hours once it has been reported, as well as investigate who has left it and take action against them.

If you have household items (eg armchairs, wardrobes, white goods) which are too bulky to put in your bin, you can take them to the council’s waste and recycling centre at Villiers Road (pre-booked appointments only) or pay for the council to take them away (see more information at Bulky Waste Collections on the council’s website).
