A burst water main near Tolworth roundabout caused traffic jams near the railway station, the Premier Inn and the site of the new Lidl HQ this morning (Wednesday).

Thames Water engineers were called and have been repairing the water main which flooded the A240 Kingston Road Northbound and blocked one of three lanes.

Kingston Council advised drivers to avoid the area.

Some homes in Tolworth and Chessington were either without water or had low pressure due to the incident.

All lanes are now open again and the traffic is easing.
