The Surbiton area’s most innovative curry house is on the shortlist for this year’s Asian Restaurant Awards.
Saffron Summer, at the Ace of Spades, Hook, is known for dishes such as wild boar vindaloo, pushing the boundaries of Indian cookery.
The awards are open to all Asian and Oriental restaurants in the UK, with 100,000 online votes determining the finalists.
Judges visit the candidates to determine the overall category winners.
Awards chairman Yawar Khan said: “The pandemic has been devastating for many hospitality businesses and its workers. These awards will acknowledge the sector’s resilience, innovation and generosity in the face of such adversity.”
The Asian Catering Federation, which represents the nation’s 30,000 Asian and Oriental restaurants, organises the awards. The sector employs over 100,000 people and contributes more than £5bn to the UK economy.
