Live music lovers are in for a double treat on Saturday, March 19 as Yvonne Lyon and Arcelia perform at the cornerHOUSE.

The singer-songwriter from Greenock and the trio from Kent will be showcasing hits from their latest albums as well as performing one or two songs together.

Touring in support of her latest album Growing Wild, Yvonne, who has an acoustic folk sound with roots rock and folk rock elements in the style of Eddi Reader of Fairground Attraction, will be supported by husband David on guitar and backing vocals.

She is among the UK’s brightest and best emerging singer-songwriters combining poignant lyrics with strong creative melodies, demonstrating a voice that can be both fragile, intense, emotive and captivating.

Flying Picket Simon Foster (vocals and cajón), Teresa Gallagher (vocals), voice artist on Octonauts, Thunderbirds Are Go!, and Thomas & Friends fame and songwriter Gavin Alexander (guitar and vocals) who co-wrote the theme tune to Studio Ghibli’s Emmy award-winning TV series Ronja the Robber’s Daughter, make up Arcelia whose soulful folk sound with a sprinkling of Americana has been been likened to the harmonic sound of Crosby, Stills and Nash.

Arcelia (meaning treasure chest in old Spanish), who will be performing tracks from all three of their albums with a focus on their most recent EP Pick Up the Pieces, regularly perform with Chris Difford of Squeeze as well as their own tours across the UK.

The double header gig at the arts centre in Douglas Road, Surbiton, starts at 7.30pm. Tickets £12 (£8 concs). Available at www.ticketsource.co.uk/thecornerhouseevents
