Don’t miss the legendary jazz musician Bob Barter who will be playing a gig at The Berrylands on Sunday (April 10) to raise money to support refugees who are fleeing Ukraine.
The 94-year-old former Elgar Avenue resident will be tinkling the ivories at the pub in Chiltern Drive with fellow jazz musicians Jimmy Hastings (tenor sax, flute and clarinet), Eric Ford (drums) and Mario Castronari (double bass). The Bob Barter Band will also feature singer Jenny Howe.
Money is being raised for the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) which is supplying emergency aid (food, water, shelter and medical assistance) to the war-torn country and refugees on its borders.
The gig will feature melodies by the likes of Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, Henry Mancini and others, plus a composition or two by Bob himself.
Tickets are £15 on the door (half-price concessions available). The gig starts at 12.30pm.
