The haunting face of a survivor. This girl from Leatherhead was one of 112 children aboard the Titanic when it hit an iceberg on April 15, 1912 en route from Southampton to New York.

Fifty children perished in the maritime disaster.

David Lawson Lean, a drama teacher who researched the fates of those children who died and those who survived for a youth theatre production ten years ago, is now marking the 110th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic with a talk based on his research and the testimonies and images from the time.

David, who is also an actor, playwright and storyteller, uses history as the inspiration for much of his work.

Children of the Titanic is on this Thursday (April 14) at 7.45pm at the cornerHOUSE arts centre in Douglas Road, Surbiton. Tickets are £5. To book visit www.ticketsource.co.uk/thecornerhouseevents
