BB’s jazz returns to Berrylands

Jazz supremo Bob Barter returns to one of his favourite haunts this coming Sunday (Sept 18). Affectionately known as BB, the sprightly 94-year-old former Elgar Avenue resident who was the musical director for 60s pop sensation Kathy Kirby, will be tinkling the ivories and playing sax and clarinet at The Berrylands pub in Chiltern Drive.

Affectionately known as BB, the sprightly 94-year-old former Elgar Avenue resident who was the musical director for 60s pop sensation Kathy Kirby, will be tinkling the ivories and playing sax and clarinet at The Berrylands pub in Chiltern Drive.

Making up the Bob Barter Band will be fellow musicians Jimmy Hastings (ex Humphrey Lyttelton muso on tenor sax, flute and clarinet), Eric Ford (drums) and Mario Castronari (double bass). Jenny Howe will provide the vocals.

Tunes by Ellington, Basie, Berlin, Porter, Gershwin, Mancini and others will feature including some of Bob’s specials.

Tickets are £15 on the door. The gig starts at 12.30pm.
