Visitors to Kingston’s first Efficient Homes Show were given a wealth of information on how to reduce their energy bills and impact on the planet.

The show at Hollyfield School in Surbiton Hill Road, Surbiton, on Saturday attracted hundreds of visitors who were fascinated by the wealth of information on offer.

They also got to hear talks and panel discussions by experts in their fields on various products and green issues which included internal and external wall insulation, low-carbon homes, and green jobs.

Stallholder Donna Holt, MD of Surbiton firm Electric4U, said: “We’ve had a very positive response; it’s been non-stop all day. People have been wanting information on solar, on batteries, on heat pumps and on EV charging.”

Donna, pictured above with husband Clive who runs sister company Plumb4U, said that with high energy prices the payback period is reducing which makes eco-products much more attractive for homeowners.

“The average payback now is about nine years whereas it used to be much higher than that – so now people are a lot more interested in utilising eco-technology,” she explained.

Another who was delighted with the response to her stall was recycling queen Janine Martin, pictured left, of Sunray Recycle in Tolworth.

“The message is ‘make sure you put your waste in the right place’,” she said. “There are so many local places that will recycle the stuff that you think is rubbish.

“But if you can’t find a place to donate or recycle, message us and we can probably let you know where it can be recycled.”
