Fifteen-year-old Tessa Stanier and her chums are organising an eco-fair at St Mark’s Church in Surbiton this coming Saturday (June 3).

Tessa, and friends aged 11 to 15 from the church choir, are organising the event to raise awareness about environmental issues.

They are also hoping to donate money to the Blue Marine Foundation which supports the oceans by combating overfishing.

“The aim of the fair will be to raise awareness about the environment and give people useful tools and information about what they can do in their everyday lives to tackle the climate crisis,” said Tessa who is on the church’s eco-committee.

Local, eco-friendly, small businesses will be showcasing their products and demonstrating how people can make their lives more sustainable.

A second-hand bookstall, clothes swap and pre-loved bike sale are among the stalls.

Sustenance and fun will be provided by a bike which will power a smoothie blender, a vegetarian cooking family workshop and a pizza truck.

There will also be plenty of activities to keep the kids out of mischief.

The fair runs from 2.30pm to 5.30pm at the church on St Mark’s Hill.

If you are a sustainable business and would like to take part email [email protected] for details.
