Check out the new mural on the pavilion at Victoria Rec this weekend.
Created by designers and illustrators Harriet Palmer and Sunnie Newby, it is part of a Surbiton Art Trail project to add interest and brighten up public spaces in the area.
The design depicts things that the duo like most about the park in Balaclava Road. It features a couple of dogs, a girl playing football, a tree, leaves, a nod to the Tarte in the Park café in the pavilion, and the logo Living The Good Life, which they thought was synonymous with Surbiton.
“I have always loved the other two murals round the side of the pavilion, they just make such a difference,” said Harriet (pictured up the ladder) of Surbiton-based studio Ninety-Five Prints. “If an area looks nice, people treat it with more respect; it was always sad walking past and one side looking quite run down really.
“We thought we wanted to put something up that you can see all the way from the end, enjoy all the way through your walk and then you get to the other side and there is more.”
