She may wear No14 when she lines up to play for Chelsea, but striker Fran Kirby will wear the No10 shirt when she runs out as a Lioness in the World Cup in France, writes Jane Grove.
Fran, and all her team-mates in the ‘pride’, have now been allocated their shirt numbers, and have started their final preparations ahead of the tournament.
Carly Telford wears 13, while Chelsea captain Kaz Carney wears 20.
After the last warm-up games, they all fly to Nice on June 4 for the opening group game against Scotland, then head north to Le Havre to take on Argentina before their final group match against Japan on June 19 back in Nice.
Skipper Steph Houghton will wear No5 while Nikita Parris will wear the No7 shirt. Forward Jodie Taylor receives the No9 jersey while Keira Walsh will don No4.
Head coach Phil Neville said: “Releasing the squad numbers is another significant moment on our World Cup journey. We’ve tried to keep the same numbers as we used in our last camp as we knew the players were happy with those choices.
“Excitement is really starting to kick in and it’ll be great to work with most of the squad over the next few days at St. George’s Park as we prepare for our last two games before departing for France.”
