It’s the time of year for nominations to the mayor’s unsung hero awards… people who have made a difference to the community, who are then presented with certificates and get to share a cuppa in the Guildhall with the first citizen.

There’s a separate award for U21s who set a good example.

The mayor, Cllr Margaret Thompson, said: “There are some truly selfless people in our borough and this is the chance for you to nominate those who you feel deserve recognition.”

Deadline: Thurs January 30.
