Artist Jo Kheir has turned her hand to chronicling her life in lockdown through daily sketches.

Jo, who was about to hold her first exhibition of oil paintings, prints, photos, and life drawings in Surbiton, when events were axed because of the coronavirus crisis, is now getting out her sketchpad and producing doodles on things that have captivated, intrigued, annoyed or amused her each day.

Each sketch is then uploaded on to her Instagram site @JOKmyArt.

“I aim to capture a unique insight into life through this extraordinary time of the coronavirus pandemic; the highs, lows and challenges each day brings,” explained Jo, the former head of design at Virgin Media.

“My aim at the moment is to keep documenting my life every day, but I guess it is even more relevant now because people can relate to what I’m going through because we are all in the same situation.

“I do actually have the enthusiasm to continue. I think I’m going to try to keep it going as long as people want me to do it and I’m enjoying it.”

Jo said there had never been such an important time to stay in contact and connect to one another in order to get through each day.

“I hope to bring a little fun to people who follow me, whether the sketches make you laugh, cry or simply relate!”

With this in mind she plans to release some bespoke greeting cards for people to send to friends and family who they are missing during lockdown.

“Follow me to find out when they arrive!” she said.

Jo also plans to stage her postponed exhibition Surbiton From A Different Angle, which was due to be staged in The Glass Room at St Andrew’s Church in Maple Road, as soon as we “begin to return to normality”.
