You don’t have to go to a beach for donkey rides.

A donkey is coming to a church near you – St Mark’s in Surbiton in fact.

At 10am on Sunday (April 10) – after the 9.15am Palm Sunday family service (all welcome) – children will be able to have a ride on a donkey around the church garden.

Then there will be a procession – with the donkey leading the way – from the church on St Mark’s Hill to St Andrew’s Church in Maple Road for the 11am Palm Sunday Eucharist.

For the first time the procession – an annual event between the sister churches – will be live-streamed to St Andrew’s so a few of its less mobile members of the congregation will be able to watch the procession’s progress.

Palm Sunday marks the first day of Holy Week and commemorates Jesus’ arrival in Jerusalem ahead of his crucifixion on Good Friday.
