Neighbours of Claremont Gardens have launched a Friends group to improve the green space which they say has gone downhill. The duck pond, plant cover and state of the rockery are of particular concern according to Green councillor Sharron Sumner who lives next to the Surbiton park which is sandwiched between The Crescent and Claremont

New boardwalk to help restore biodiversity at Six Acre Meadow 0

I doubt there will be much room for The Drifters to get out a blanket and sit under a boardwalk like this one pictured below, but they could always enjoy walking along it instead. Kingston Council has agreed to fund a replacement boardwalk for Six Acre Meadow near the Sunray Estate in Tolworth off Knollmead.

The whole of Surbiton’s high street will sparkle with Christmas lights this festive period. Last year the lights and decorations only reached part of the way along Victoria Road, but this year councillors on the Surbiton Neighbourhood Committee decided to splash out and approve the most expensive option – £12,523 – at its recent meeting.

A Surbiton councillor wants Maple Road added to the list of experimental ‘low-traffic neighbourhoods’ to create safer pedestrian space, boost pubs and restaurants, and allow the farmers’ market (still in abeyance since lockdown) to thrive. Green councillor Sharron Sumner wants a vehicle barrier installed by Maple Infants’ and St Andrew’s & St Mark’s junior schools.
