A course has been running every autumn for six years to help Surbiton residents cope with the pain of grief.

The Bereavement Journey is organised by St Matthew’s church, with seven weekly sessions, starting today.

“Each time we run the course we find participants feel hopeful that, in time, they can rebuild their lives,” said organiser Susan Kang.

The weekly afternoon sessions from 2-4.30pm include a mix of films and discussions to guide participants through the most common aspects of grief – even if their bereavement happened long ago.

The seventh session is an optional one on faith questions, but there is no faith content in the first six sessions.
