Chelsea Women take on Crystal Palace at Bromley on Sunday afternoon in the Continental Tyres League Cup fresh from a stunning European victory away to Sarajevo in Bosnia.

Manager Emma Hayes will rotate the squad again, to keep key players rested ahead of a demanding run of four away games on the trot.

The Blues bossed the game against Bosnian serial title-winners SFK 2000 Sarajevo in the Women’s Champions League, with a dazzling strike from all of 30 yards by defender Millie Bright opening the scoring after just six minutes.

Drew Spence added a second before Maria Thorisdottir scored her very first goal in a Chelsea shirt.

Ji So Yun made it 4-0 in the second half after a collector’s item, a Fran Kirby missed penalty, before Adelina Engman wrapped it all up with a fifth. Five goals, five different scorers; Chelsea are underlining their European potential already.

The second leg is at Kingsmeadow under the floodlights on Wednesday September 26 at 7.30pm.
