Chelsea’s European adventure continues when Fiorentina visit Kingsmeadow in the Women’s Champions League Round of 16.
The Italian Serie A women’s side knocked out the Danish side Fortuna Hjorring 4-0 on aggregate in the previous round, while Chelsea steamrollered the Bosnian team FSK Sarajevo 11-0 over two legs.
Details of Chelsea’s home leg (either on Oct 17 or 18) are being finalised, but the return leg in Italy is set for Halloween.
A disappointing crowd of 667 saw Chelsea Women beat Sarajevo 6-0 on Sept 26, with Drew Spence, Fran Kirby (2), Maren Mjelde, Hannah Blundell and Erin Cuthbert on target.
Fiorentina are likely to attract a bigger attendance.
Last season, the Blues made it to the semi-finals.
The Champions League draw was made in Nyon, Switzerland. Among the other ties, last year’s finalists Wolfsburg (who defeated Chelsea in the semis) face Atletico Madrid – who knocked Manchester City out of the competition last week.
FC Zurich play Bayern Munich, Ajax face the holders Lyon, and Barcelona play Glasgow City.
