As Chelsea Women begin planning for an expedition to Durham in the FA Cup, there’s the little matter of tonight’s match against Bristol City to sort out.
The draw for the quarter finals of this season’s SSE Women’s FA Cup produced some intriguing encounters to be played on Sunday March 17, with Reading hosting Manchester United, Villa playing West Ham United, Manchester City taking on Liverpool and supposed minnows Durham playing host to the Blues.
Chelsea will treat the tie seriously, and there will be no let-up in their accomplished pre-match preparation and scouting.
But for tonight at Kingsmeadow, it’s Bristol City’s turn to face the Blues, and with half-term in mind there are plenty of goodies on offer to tempt younger fans along, including starring roles for the mascots and free scarves for home fans.
After Sunday’s 3-0 win against Arsenal – that’s the teams lined up above, ahead of kick-off – City come to Kingsmeadow on the back of their first defeat since November – a stonking run of form which sees them just two places below the Blues in the league.
Funnily enough, they were beaten by Durham.
Aussie manager Tanya Oxtoby, the 36-year-old ex-player, goes head-to-head with Emma Hayes in the dugout.
Tickets for tonight’s game are available from the Kingsmeadow mobile box office at the stadium, for cash payments, right up to 6pm – £6 for adults and £3 for juniors. The match itself kicks off at 7.30pm.
