Chelsea Women centre-back Millie Bright was on good form for the Lionesses as they beat Spain 2-1 in an exciting match at Swindon’s County ground.
While Beth Mead and Ellen White were on target up front (before Spain struck back through Barcelona’s Aitana Bonmati), Bright was in the starting line-up, keeping the Spanish at bay for most of the game.
Although Bright is now used sparingly at Kingsmeadow to maintain her fitness and avoid risk of aggravating injury, she played the full 90 minutes for England.
Less lucky was Chelsea keeper Carly Telford, who suffered concussion during a training session shortly before Tuesday night’s match and – under stricter FA rules on head injuries – was not permitted to play against Spain.

Blues captain Karen Carney was among the unused subs.
England lost their opening friendly against Canada, and have two more matches before this summer’s finals in France.
