Chelsea Women have an intriguing away trip from south-west London to south-east to face Charlton Athletic in the 4th round of the Women’s FA Cup.
Emma Hayes’ team will be travelling to face the Championship side at The Oakwood in Old Road, Crayford, Kent, on Sunday January 26… probably at 2pm, although the kick-off time has yet to be confirmed. The manager will be taking nothing for granted, but she knows it could have been much, much worse.
In the draw on Monday afternoon, the headline-grabbing ties were Manchester United v Manchester City and West Ham v Arsenal, but with the heightened interest in Chelsea following the arrival of you-know-who from Down Under, the London derby against Charlton promises to be very much in the spotlight too.
Chelsea Women’s army of fans will be plotting routes to the ground. There’s plenty of free car parking, both at the Addicks’ ground and in local side streets – much like at Kingsmeadow – and the ticket prices are £6 for adults, £2 for U16s and OAPs.
The nearest station is Crayford (via Charing Cross or London Bridge), while the 96 bus stops nearby.
The Blues reached the last four of the competition last season, but with the strengthened squad will be pushing to go all the way to Wembley this year.
Chelsea won the cup in 2018, beating Arsenal with the help of a Ramona Bachmann brace and a goal from Fran Kirby.
Tickets are already for sale for the final at Wembley on Saturday May 9; adults at £15, with up to two children free.
