Two Surbiton coffee shops are doing their bit to keep community spirits up.
Coffee on the Corner in Beaconsfield Road is giving away pasta to its over 65-year-old neighbours while The Press Room in Claremont Road is giving NHS staff a free cup of coffee as a morale boost.
“We want to be able to benefit our immediate community in any way we can,” said Coffee OTC owner Kyle Hyams. “Today we installed a dispenser in the shop to be able to provide our over 65 neighbours with pasta, free of charge; this is not for sale!
“We will do this for as long as we can, until we’re forced to close or cannot get stock.”
Kyle said the tubs of penne pasta could be brought outside for customers – they can just ask at the door.
The Press Room, which also has another coffee shop in Twickenham, said: “To all those working hard to keep us safe during these crazy times, show us your NHS ID at either of our sites and we will give you a free caffeine fix to help you through your shift.”
