Dazzling blossom outside St Andrew’s in Maple Road, Surbiton, shows that spring isn’t being deterred by coronavirus.
Tomorrow is officially the first day of spring, and Surbiton’s trees have risen to the occasion.
The magnolia trees, in particular, are spectacular this year, but this dependable tree outside the glass extension to St Andrew’s church is so bright it almost seems to be back-lit.
Surbiton is still very much open for business, although some supermarkets are imposing earlier closing times (Waitrose in Surbiton is now shutting at 7.30pm). While many of Surbiton town centre’s charity shops seem to have closed for the duration, but the majority of shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants are still trading.
Roberts the cleaners in Claremont Road is now offering a pick-up and drop-off service for laundry, to help those who can’t get out and about.
