Surbitonians have much to look forward to when we come out the other side of the lockdown – a new water fountain being one of them.
Thames Water, in partnership with the Mayor of London, has been installing water fountains in various areas of the capital and has just plumbed one in outside Nat West bank in Victoria Road.
However due to the coronavirus crisis everything has been put on hold and the plastic which it currently is swathed in won’t be removed until the lockdown is lifted.
A spokesman for Thames Water said: “Given the fast-moving coronavirus situation, we and our colleagues at the GLA have decided to close our public fountains and pause the installation of new ones in London.
“We’ve taken this decision so we at Thames Water can prioritise our essential day-to-day services and respond to any emergencies that may occur during the outbreak.
“We hope to get our fountains back up and running very soon.”
