Talented, young, local singer-songwriter-musicians will perform a special online Out of the Corner Lockdown gig tonight (Thursday).

The open mic event, usually staged monthly at the cornerHOUSE arts centre in Douglas Road, Surbiton, has moved online since lockdown.

“Following the success of our last online outing we have some innovative performances this month from some incredibly talented young performers, some familiar faces as well as new additions,” said organiser Shelley Stevens. “In this unprecedented moment it is such a joy to see artists being so creative and expressive. I hope that we don’t forget how important music has been when this crazy situation ends.”

The artists who have been videoing their performances to be uploaded online during the evening from 6pm tonight are regular performers Joe Hawkes, Sophie Edge, Georgia Roberts, Emily Lucas, Salina Kalra and returnee Jess Le Vay while Julian Brown and Grace Eden are new additions to the mix.

Originals and covers will be played including an upbeat Queen song, to lift everyone’s spirits, performed by Sophie Edge, pictured, a final year student at Surbiton’s Hollyfield School.

Find out more and tune in to see the musicians perform on Out of the Corner’s Facebook page at here or on Instagram @out_ofthe_corner
