Aoife Hyams, aged two, holds an illustration of Coffee on the Corner drawn by local artist Emma Bryan.

Now her father Kyle, who owns the café at the junction of Beaconsfield Road and King Charles Road, is challenging children to draw or paint their own image of the Surbiton shop.

“We’d love to see some drawings and paintings of Coffee on the Corner,” said Kyle whose café has recently reopened for takeaways. “It doesn’t have to be the shop, it could be their favourite ice cream, cake or whatever they love most about their visit.

“The winners will be invited to get a free two-scoop gelato of their choice and freshly ground coffee for you!”

How to enter:
1. Take a photo of your child’s drawing or painting
2. Post it on Instagram or Facebook and tag @coffee.otc
3. Include the hashtag #CoffeeOTC

Kyle said he had been overwhelmed by the messages of support he had received for the reopening of the café where you can now collect breakfast, lunch, coffee, milkshakes, sandwiches, snacks, cakes, pastries and gelato among other goodies from a counter at the door. You can even pre-order a takeaway afternoon tea for two (email [email protected] for details).

“The local support has been amazing, we really appreciate it,” said Kyle who opened Coffee on the Corner opposite Alexandra Rec at the end of July last year. “We’ve managed to find a way to operate safely, especially with Sid our social distancing stick!”

The café is now open seven days a week from 9am to 5pm.
