Under 18-year-olds in the Surbiton area were invited to take part in a summer exhibition by the cornerHOUSE art centre.

Now their artwork is being shown in a virtual gallery on the Douglas Road arts centre’s website.

“We wanted to celebrate the vast creative skills and talents of our younger community so we opened our virtual doors and asked them to decorate our virtual walls to create our first Under 18s online Summer Art Exhibition,” said exhibition organiser Nicky Newberry.

“Our artists could choose their subject matter and have provided us with an interesting range of pictures giving us an extra splash of colour over the summer.

“Our youngest contributors are two years old!”

Meanwhile Surbiton resident Jemma Swallow photographed street art images of hope and support created by local children during the first weeks of lockdown. They are also being shown in a slideshow on the arts centre’s website.

To view both exhibitions visit the Visual Arts section on the website at www.thecornerhouse.org
