The public inquiry that nobody seems to want the public to know about continues on Thursday morning (Oct 14) at 9.30am, with inspector Yvonne Wright taking evidence to decide if Tolworth Tower will be joined by two more tower blocks in the Broadway… and just how much ‘affordable’ housing should be included.

The developer originally wanted to include NO affordable housing at all. Now it is prepared to make 10% of the 500 flats in the proposed project capable of being bought by non-millionaires.

Not enough, says Kingston Council, which is against current plans. Not enough, say residents who have been giving their side of the story, telling the inspector that parking in the side streets is already at crisis point, that the roundabout is gridlocked without hundreds more cars, and that more towers look ugly and will create wind tunnels.

The developers are currently on the back foot after deliberately dumping dozens of complicated scientific documents on the inspector and the opponents the night before the appeal began, angering the inspector, infuriating Kingston Council’s barrister James Burton.
