A proposal to demolish a four-bed family home and build three new properties on the site at 6 Lovelace Gardens, Surbiton, has been rejected by councillors at a Surbiton Neighbourhood Committee meeting.

They decided that the five-bed semis to be built at the rear of the plot would be too close to and overlook the three bed home which would be at the front of the site.

They also decided that the mass, bulk and scale of the semis would be too excessive and not in keeping with the character of the area.

The next Surbiton Neighbourhood Committee meeting, where councillors decide on planning and highways issues as well as community grants, is on Thursday, March 12 at 7.30pm at Glenmore House, The Crescent, Surbiton. All welcome.
