Musicians and singers might still be barred from entertaining audiences indoors, but that hasn’t deterred Out of the Corner unplugged showcase compere Shelley Stevens keeping music alive by organising an online gig this evening (Thursday).

Shelley, who pre lockdown ran a monthly unplugged showcase of emerging acoustic talent at the cornerHOUSE arts centre in Surbiton, is streaming performances on Facebook www.facebook.com/outofthecorner and Instagram @out_ofthe_corner pages from 7pm.

They include contributions from Georgia Roberts (pictured) before she goes off to uni, and Out of the Corner regular Emily Lucas, while Jason Lake and Joe Hawkes are both promoting their new albums Adventure 28 and Gratitude with Attitude respectively.

Their performances, as well as the open mic event’s previous online lockdown gigs, will be available afterwards on the Douglas Road arts centre’s website at www.thecornerhouse.org/ch-online

“Out of the Corner are happily doing our best to keep live music alive and give young performers the opportunity to perfect their online performance skills in these unprecedented times,” explained Shelley. “We have loved the creativity that it has produced although we can’t wait to get back to seeing artists perform live, soon we hope.”
