Atmosphere. That’s what Emma Hayes, pictured, is urging Chelsea Women fans to create tomorrow (Sunday) at their home ground – Kingsmeadow.

The Blues’ manager, nominated for the Women’s Super League manager of the season award (she has already won the title five times), is hoping for a bumper crowd to raise the rafters with their chanting and flag-waving at the stadium in Jack Goodchild Way off Kingston Road, Kingston, for their game against Arsenal, who currently lie third in the WSL table.

The match, which starts at 12.30pm, is the most crucial game of the season and one which could secure Hayes’ team the WSL title should they win and Manchester United drop points at home to Manchester City later that day.

“I want an atmosphere,” said Hayes who is hoping to get her hands on her fourth league trophy on the trot. “I love Kingsmeadow; I know I advocate going to Stamford Bridge but I love Kingsmeadow. Nothing beats an atmosphere where fans are close to the stadium and close to the pitch and perform and participate in the way that those Sheffield Wednesday fans did [on Thursday] and I know our fans are capable of that and we will certainly need them on Sunday.”
