Chelsea’s 24-year-old goal machine Fran Kirby was on target yet again for England, scoring another penalty during the Lionesses’ 5-0 victory over Kazakhstan on Tuesday night.
It almost certainly earns Fran a rest in Saturday’s rearranged Conti Cup fixture against Yeovil Town Ladies at Kingsmeadow, a match brought forward to 6pm from its original Sunday lunchtime slot.
Chelsea’s Ramona Bachmann was also among the goals in Tuesday’s international qualifiers ahead of the 2019 Women’s World Cup, which will be staged during the summer in a year and a half’s time in France.
Ramona scored the second goal as the Swiss team beat Albania 5-1 at home.
Meanwhile Fran came on as a second-half sub against Kazakhstan, and again proved her reliability from the spot following a handball.
Other Chelsea Ladies on international duty were Maren Mjelde and Maria Thorisdottir (Norway), and Hedvig Lindahl, Magda Ericsson, and imminent signing Jonna Andersson (Sweden).
