With no summer fundraising fair because of coronavirus, Grand Avenue School’s parents have been thinking outside the box, and have come up with some novel alternatives.
There’s a treasure trail to download, taking youngsters and parents on a four-mile walking loop of Long Ditton, finishing at Fishponds Park in Surbiton. It’s a couple of hours long, so everyone is being urged to pick a nice day, take a picnic and discover new parts of the area while solving clues to find Captain Joshua Tagg’s hidden loot… with certificates for successful explorers.

“Though we’re unable to gather in person, we have fundraising activities to support and enjoy,” said Lauren Clusky, secretary of Gaspa, the Grand Avenue School Parents’ Association. There’s also a text raffle and a live-stream comedy gig with the Crack Comedy team, who did a fundraising night for the Surbiton school before lockdown.
Jen Brister, Nathan Caton, Steve N Allen and MC Erich McElroy perform on Saturday July 11 from 8.30pm, with household tickets costing £10 online via https://www.pta-events.co. uk/gaspa/index.cfm?event= event&eventId=28073)
