This warming bowl of Roasted Veg and Mixed Bean Chilli is always a fave with fans of plant powered Little Ginger.
Vegan meal caterer Emma Egerton, who runs the Surbiton-based indie, will be serving takeaway chilli with rice, nachos, cheese, guacamole and sour cream at a pop-up from noon until 7pm today (Saturday) at the Community Brain Kitchen alongside Tolworth railway station.
There are also burgers to choose from too: chickpea masala with chipotle mayo or mushroom and black rice with house BBQ sauce, both served with slammin’ slaw and fries.
Each main is £8.50. Extra fries £3.50. Contactless payment.
No need to order in advance, just turn up on foot or there is plenty of parking in the station forecourt.
“I was really lucky to be asked to cater the open event at this new space, pre-lockdown!” explained Emma who often runs vegan events at Surbiton’s Museum of Futures.
“I thought it would be a good idea to celebrate Veganuary, plus give the local community something a little different to do in these crazy times!
“We are all so used to heading out for a walk as our main daytime activity so why not walk around Tolworth’s amazing green spaces (just round the back of the station!) and then end up grabbing some tasty home-cooked, plant-powered food too!”
Emma said anyone who is sceptical about vegan food should try out the mushroom burger.
“The mushroom one is a good place to start as ‘shrooms are naturally quite meaty! I get a lot of love for the burgers from vegans and meat eaters alike.”
