Tense, dramatic and beautifully constructed… 2.22 A Ghost Story, from the pen of Uncanny presenter Danny Robins, is at Richmond Theatre this week, and it’s quite simply unmissable.

The words ‘Shhh, Please Don’t Tell’ flashed up on the back of the stage as principal cast James Bye, Shvorne Marks (pictured, right), Natalie Casey and Grant Kilburn took a bow on press night after this chilling thriller reached its climax, so no spoilers here.

Just an urging, if you can, to catch this oh-so-cleverly written show, to be spooked by a well-told tale that explores the paranormal in a living room brought unsettlingly to life by Lucy Carter’s lighting and Ian Dickinson’s sound skills.

Directed by Matthew Dunster and Gabriel Vega Weissman, it follows on from Robins’ well-trodden radio and podcast arguments about the existence, or otherwise, of ghosts.

A couple who have moved into a doer-upper with their young baby are forced to deal with echoes of past occupants after their pals visit, with the 2.22am time seeming significant.

It’s played with pace and vigour, generating collective gasps from the audience throughout the two-hour show.
